Before You…

I never pulled over just to watch the train go by.
I never listened to a song fifty times in a row.
I never sang a song fifty times in a row, just to make someone smile.
I never planned on touching another person’s boogers.
I never knew my kiss was magical and could heal owies.
I never knew coloring could be so fun.
I never thought I would tell someone not to color on their cheese.
I never tore my house apart looking for a stuffed animal.
I never thought I would have a perfectly serious conversation about poop.
I never had anyone clap for me after I went to the bathroom.
I never knew I was so funny.

I never found rocks in my dryer, or in my purse.
I never knew watching Cinderella over and over and over…would not be so bad.
I never knew I was such a worrier.
I never considered buying medical equipment I do not know how to operate to check blood
oxygen, heart rate, or look in someone’s ears.

I never thought I would love watching someone sleep.
I never looked in the rearview mirror so much, just to see a little face.
I never thought I could love a little person so very much.
I never knew what it was like to have my heart walk around outside of my body.
I never knew what I was capable of.
Before you…

Aww, that's so true! I too, had to dry my eyes. Very well spoken. I love being a Mom, and would never change a thing. 🙂

Such a beautiful post, Joanna. So many blessings. I love reliving that magic all over again with our adoption. 8 years between children forces you to forget all those little things. It's such a blessing to experience it with fresh eyes.
