A Story about Irony

So this is a little bit of a long story, but bear with the background, as it makes the irony so much more potent. As many of you know I work as an interior designer not far from DC, at a company that not only sells a ton of furniture, but also a copious amount of accessories. This is great, because I love to accessorize!

My husband and I are avid football fans. Unfortunately, he is an avid Washington Redskins fan, while I am a firm believer in the Dallas cowboys, and these two teams are mortal enemies (really just longtime rivals, but doesn’t mortal enemy sound better?) These teams play each other twice a year, and Sunday was their first game this year. For these pivotal games, we will wear our jerseys. I have a Tony Romo jersey

jersey (running-back for the Redskins).  Sadly, the Cowboys lost, which was sad and depressing.

So on Monday, I go into work, where everyone is avid Redskins fans, and they, of course, amplify my despair.(It’s an unfortunate area to live in for a Cowboys fan!) But that’s okay, because I am meeting with a new client, a nice older man, who is helping get his new place accessorized. His boy was coming in to town later in the afternoon, and we make plans to meet then. Later in the day comes, and he brings his boy in. His boy is (are you ready?) Clinton Portis! Aaaaggghh! (see previous chapter about husband’s jersey, mortal enemies, and such) Yes, Clinton  Portis, the running back for the Redskins.
Salt in my wounds, people! So, anyways, you all would have been proud, I was completely professional, we accessorized ourselves into exhaustion, and then I very kindly took everything over to his new place for him. There was no ranting, no crying. I was the picture of niceness. Josh was upset that I didn’t get something autographed, or a picture, but NO! That would be cheating on my football husband, Tony Romo!
Seriously, how’s that for irony!?!

What!? No autographs. That would have bought you a lifetime supply of girl movies and trips to the spa. Any chance of going back to get a picture for Josh?

Football husband? What would poor Jessica Simpson think? But seriously, I agree with the previous comment — you missed a chance to get some serious Josh points!

Sorry Joanna!! I feel your pain because I am a HUGE Bucs fan (I\’m from Tampa) so I pretty much loathe the skins! It is a funny story though!
