Our kiddos just went back to school for regular school days, starting at regular hours, today, after ten days. It was like a holiday break all over again and we were not sad about it!

This has been a really hard week for Paisley and for us—lots of palliative care visits, tough moments, and new rescue meds added to help us through the worst of it.

Today she feels a bit better, and we are so thankful. Around here, we hold onto the good days tightly… because they matter more than words can say. ♥️♥️

Throwing it back to 2016… our baby girl had JUST been home a week, and she was excited to go out in the snow.
A decade later we have snow again and our baby girl bundled up to go out again. She lasted about 15 minutes before she was exhausted and she came in and laid down the rest of the day, but it sure was good to see her happy!

This sweet boy is wearing a heart monitor that was placed yesterday…over the past few weeks he’s been telling us his chest hurts, and his little heart has been racing more than it should.
Of course this makes us nervous, and causes our sweet boy some anxiety, so we are watching this closely.

Finn handled it all with so much bravery, a soft smile, and that tender heart of his that loves so deeply. Strong doesn’t always look loud. Sometimes it looks like an 8-year-old squeezing a red heart pillow and doing hard things without complaint.

Please keep him in your thoughts as we wait for clarity and healing. His heart is already so full of love, we’re just making sure it keeps beating strong. ❤️

Seven years ago in a civil affairs office in China

Seven years ago in a civil affairs office in China, we met the tiniest baby boy in the biggest parka.
We fell in love with him the moment we saw his picture, and seven years ago today he became our son.

To know Finn is to love him. He is sweetness and light, he brings so much joy and love and laughter to our family. How lucky we are to be his. ♥️♥️♥️

This boy was so happy to take his ants to school this week, proudly carrying them like precious cargo. He couldn’t wait to share them with his class.

And the best part? His teacher said yes, even though she doesn’t like ants at all. She saw how much it meant to him and made space for his joy. Grateful for kids who love learning and teachers who lead with kindness 🐜💛
