She turns thirteen today… and my heart still catch

She turns thirteen today… and my heart still catches when I say it out loud.

We celebrated early, surrounded by people who love her, knowing how precious each milestone is. And now we’re all away together — letting her live out a piece of her bucket list, watching her eyes light up in ways we haven’t seen nearly enough lately.

It feels like a gift just to be here.
To watch her soak in something she’s dreamed about.
To celebrate her — not just her birthday, but her courage, her softness, her fight, her whole beautiful self.

Thirteen looks different than we imagined… but it’s here. And she’s here.
And that is everything. 💛

It’s been a long day for our girl- another blood transfusion, an allergic reaction to the blood and extra meds that left her completely wiped out. But still she smiles through it all.

Tonight we rest, hoping tomorrow brings a little more color, a little more energy, and a lot more comfort. ♥️♥️

Only one little costume went out the door this Halloween. 🎃

Our teenagers stayed close to home like last year, and even though Paisley had her cute little cat costume planned out months ago, her body had other plans. The same way it did when it came time to decorate for Christmas — she watched from the couch, bundled up and smiling through the fatigue, while we tried to keep the sparkle alive for her. Her little body is just too tired and unwell.

There’s something about watching one child carry on traditions while another battles just to get through the day that breaks your heart in a way words can’t quite hold.

It’s a strange thing — how joy and ache can share the same space, how traditions can move forward even when a piece of your heart sits still.

Right now, we’re holding onto hope — believing her sparkle isn’t gone, just resting. 💫
And trusting that one day soon, she’ll be right back in the middle of the magic, where she belongs. ♥️
