1,096 Days Ago…

Three years ago today, we checked into the hospital at an ungodly morning hour…seriously, it might as well have been the middle of the night. We got up while it was still dark, and in the dark we drove to the hospital, and while it was just getting light out, they took our girl back to begin what seemed like the longest five hours of our lives.

Three years ago today, our little M’s sick, struggling heart was fixed.

Three years ago I wrote this post after we got to see little M. Our little M was so little in that big hospital bed, and all of the tubes coming out of her just made her look even smaller.

But the first thing I noticed…the first thing that stood out to me as I took little M’s hand in mine, was that her finger nail beds were pink. Not blue. Those little fingers were quite clubbed as a result of her sick little heart. But those tiny clubbed fingers were pink!

After staying in the hospital for over two weeks, we were able to take our girl home, and I wrote this post listing my thoughts on our stay and heart surgery.

We will always be grateful for the surgeon who took care of our girl’s heart that day, and for her cardiologist, who encouraged us not to be afraid of little M’s diagnosis.

Mostly, we feel so thankful and blessed to have our little M with us, healthy and happy.

Happy heart-iversary, little M! This a day to celebrate!

I went back and read all of your posts while she was in the hospital. I can't imagine the stress you had. It's so hard seeing your kids hurt. So glad she is doing so well. Blessings

Thank you so much for sharing this. Having only known Miss M. as a healthy, thriving little girl, it was good, although heart-rending, to read about how she got that way.
