Guest Blogger- The Husband Speaks
All of you know I always have a lot to say, thoughts about everything, really. Many of you have met my wonderful husband, who also has good things to say. So he is doing this post today about our travel FAQ’s:
I’m excited to be doing a guest post for my talented wife’s blog! I’ve gotten a lot of questions about our imminent trip, so I got the urge to write them out since the answers are long and get boring in conversation.
Where will you be traveling?
We will be spending half our time in Xi’An which is where Mackenzie’s orphanage is, then on to Guangzhou to the US Consulate.
What is your itinerary?
Friday–Arrive in Xi’An
Sunday–Welcome Mackenzie!
Monday–Adoption registration
Tuesday–Work on Chinese passport
Wednesday–Terra Cotta Warriors
Thursday–Orphanage tour
Friday–Pick up Chinese passport and travel to Guangzhou
Saturday–Medical checkup, and TB test
Sunday–Rest
Monday–TB test results and US paperwork
Tuesday–US paperwork review
Wednesday–Consulate appointment
Thursday–Mackenzie gets sworn in as a US citizen
Friday–Pick up visa
Saturday–Go home!
Are you going to do any sightseeing?
In XiAn there are the terra cotta warriors, and the guangzhou safari preserve, where I might get to feed a baby tiger.
How long is the flight?
Looooooooong. 17 hours in the air, plus layovers makes for a long trip. Wish us luck on the way home as we travel with a cranky two year old.
Are you swamped with last minute preparations?
Joanna has been on top of everything, and as a loyal reader you already know the nursery is ready to go. I’ve almost done with toddlerproofing the house, and Joanna already has all of our stuff packed for the trip.
Thats all for now folks, we appreciate your thoughts and prayers as we get our little girl!
I'm insanely jealous about the Terra Cotta Warriors part…
AHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!! How exciting, even the cranky 2 year old part.
Wishing you safe travels and the most pleasant of times as you meet your new daughter and transition into life as a family of three.
Have a safe trip and can't wait to follow your travels. It will be an amazing feeling when you finally get to hold your beautiful daughter for the first time. My MIL saw those terra cotta warriors and they were pretty neat!
aww, thats so exciting. I hope everything goes really smoothly! Have a great trip!Maria x
